Waiting on Wednesday Psychic Dreams by Elizabeth Hunter

It’s been three years since Monica Velasquez lost the love of her life to a sudden and devastating heart attack. She’s held her family together and picked herself up with the love and help of her two best friends. Now the kids have moved out, and Monica has a new business, a new wardrobe, and a new vision for the future.

As in, actual psychic visions. Dreams that manifest in reality. Monica still isn’t sure why or how it happened, but she’s been seeing everything from unexpected visitors to visions of fire and destruction.

Separating psychic premonitions from morbid imagination is proving harder than she expected, and Monica starts feeling the heat—or is it a hot flash?—when the town’s new fire inspector grows suspicious of her accurate and anonymous tips.

Is their town about to feel the burn of a serial arsonist, or can Monica, Robin, and Val figure out the dangerous secret smoldering at the heart of Glimmer Lake?

Psychic Dreams is a standalone paranormal women’s fiction novel in the Glimmer Lake series by USA Today best seller Elizabeth Hunter, author of the Elemental Mysteries and the Irin Chronicles.

Why I’m Waiting…

I’ve been a fan of Elizabeth’s writing for a few years now. I’ve been reading this series (Glimmer Lake) since the first book; Suddenly Psychic was published back in February. I highly recommend this series if you’re looking for something new & original to read. It’s Paranormal Women’s Fiction (think Paranormal Romance with slightly older MC’s). There’s romance, mystery, ghosts, lifelong friendship and fantastic writing! I’ll leave links to the rest of the series below…

Mini Book Review: Semi-Psychic Life (Glimmer Lake #2) by Elizabeth Hunter

Every woman goes through changes in their forties.

Just not… these changes.

Robin Brannon was a normal wife, mom, and antique shop owner until a brush with death turned her day-to-day life upside down. Now she and her two best friends are seeing things that belong in a fantasy novel. Ghosts. Visions. Omens of doom. Nothing that belongs in the peaceful mountain town they call home.

Added to that, Robin’s marriage is on the rocks, her grandmother’s health is failing, her mother is driving away the customers at her shop, her teenage daughter refuses to get her drivers’ license, and her left knee aches every darn morning.
Robin doesn’t have the time, energy, or knees to unearth the secrets buried at the bottom of Glimmer Lake, but fate doesn’t seem to care. Some secrets are just dying to be exposed.

Book ReviewHidden Heartby Amy Patrick

Give in to the Glamour as the saga continues…
17-year-old Ryann Carroll thought she knew who she was… a small-town Southern girl just trying to survive her parents’ messy divorce and find some peace for herself. She thought she knew what she wanted… a summer job, a car, a first date that didn’t suck, and NO complications from a serious relationship—any guy in her life would simply be icing on the cake.

But now… she’s not only in love, her boyfriend Lad is a member of an ancient race that’s lived secretly among humans for thousands of years, mentioned only in flawed and fading folklore. Things could hardly get more complicated than that.

More importantly, she’s learned the world’s top celebrities… those actors, musicians, athletes, and politicians who seem a little too beautiful and talented to be true… actually are. They’re not human, and they’re using their glamour and the increasing popularity of fan pods to control more and more humans. But why?
With her best friend Emmy leaving soon to join the fan pod of a famous actor, Ryann has to find out the answer. And she can’t do it alone. But after a shocking murder, Lad can no longer fight his destiny or his duty, and Ryann’s not sure whether his top priority is their relationship or his people.

In this second book of the Hidden Trilogy, true friendship will take Ryann from rural Mississippi to the glittering city of Los Angeles. And true love will take her to places she never expected to go…

My Review…

What can I say, I’M OFFICIALLY ADDICTED TO THIS SERIES! Amy Patrick has a way of making her characters really come to life! There wasn’t one single character that was out of place or that I didn’t like! (Yes, I loved to hate a few villains but they were wonderfully written!)
My favorite part of this book was the romance. I’m not one to like (I usually detest) love triangles, but this one is written in a way that I absolutely, head-over-heels fell for! (If you read New Moon and loved it, then this love triangle is kinda-sorta similar in terms of feelings.) Without any spoilers, the chemistry was HOT HOT HOT! I will say that this book has a New Adult feeling to it while the first book, Hidden Deep has tons of swoon-worthy romance but more of a YA feeling.
I did come across a few twists & turns that were delightfully unexpected! Of course, I bought the third book, Hidden Hope as soon as I put this one down and will be diving into it A.S.A.P.!!
If you love romance with tons of chemistry (You know, the swoon-worthy, toe melting kind!), tons of action filled with unexpected twist then this one’s for you!

Award-winning author Tara Kingston writes historical romance laced with intrigue, danger, and adventures of the heart. Book Excerpt:

Inverness, Scotland
June, 1891
Truth be told, Lady Evelyn Hunt rather enjoyed being a fallen woman. While others might well wring their hands over such a dizzying tumble from grace, she’d discovered an unexpected benefit of scandal—the invisible scarlet letter she wore was the key to her independence. After all, with no good name to protect, she had nothing to lose.
As her traveling companions gushed over the wares in a milliner’s cramped and cluttered shop, she debated whether to put that freedom to good use and make her escape. She’d endured the noisy, pungent train ride from London to the Highlands with nary a whisper of complaint. After all, it wasn’t every day one embarks on a journey to stand as a bridesmaid while her dearest friend weds a dashing Scotsman. She would not have missed Sally’s wedding, not for all the quiet chambers in the world. But now, as the walls closed in and her friends’ voices blurred, she eyed the door with a keen longing.
Fanning herself with one hand, she pulled in a gulp of air, deep as her corset allowed. Drat, she should’ve loosened the stays. A fashionable silhouette was desirable, but then again, so was the ability to inhale.
Her pulse hammered a defiant beat against her eardrums. What harm would there be in leaving this little shop, if only for a few minutes? It wasn’t as if she required a chaperone. With her reputation damaged well beyond repair, she was free to explore the city without benefit of an escort. On the other hand, her dignity would suffer a devastating blow if she collapsed in an incoherent heap on the milliner’s floor.
Edging past the hatmaker’s dour-faced assistant, Evelyn slipped out the door. Relief rushed in. Fresh calm filled her. Free of the crush and the relentless chatter, she could once again focus her thoughts. She could breathe.
A shadow fell over her.
Strong, warm hands settled over her shoulders.
She gasped.
A stranger towered over her. A handsome man, dark-haired and broad-shouldered.
“Unhand me, sir.”
His hands fell away. A hint of a smile danced on his full mouth. “Is the devil nippin’ at yer heels, lass?”
Good heavens. In her rush to take her leave of the shop, she’d nearly collided with the fellow, hadn’t she? So much for avoiding damage to her dignity.
She was tall, too long-limbed to fit the feminine ideal, but she had to cock her chin to meet his intent golden-brown eyes. “My apologies.”
“’Tis no harm done.” A lock of dark hair dipped over his forehead, and he shoved it away. “Do take care. The next man ye run into might take advantage of the opportunity to find a lovely lass in his arms.”
The man certainly had cheek, didn’t he? A reply sprang to her lips, hovering there unspoken as his hint of a smile gave way to a ridiculously appealing grin.

Romancing the Scot by May McGoldrick {Release Blitz}

In this stunning series starter by USA Today bestselling author May McGoldrick, meet the new generation of Penningtons…five brothers and sisters of passion and privilege. Enter their aristocratic world…where each will fight injustice and find love.

Hugh Pennington—Viscount Greysteil, Lord Justice of the Scottish Courts, hero of the Napoleonic wars—is a grieving widower with a death wish. When he receives an expected crate from the continent, he is shocked to find a nearly dead woman inside. Her identity is unknown, and the handful of American coins and the precious diamond sown into her dress only deepen the mystery.

Grace Ware is an enemy to the English crown. Her father, an Irish military commander of Napoleon’s defeated army. Her mother, an exiled Scottish Jacobite. When Grace took shelter in a warehouse, running from her father’s murderers through the harbor alleyways of Antwerp, she never anticipated bad luck to deposit her at the home of an aristocrat in the Scottish Borders. Baronsford is the last place she could expect to find safety, and Grace feigns a loss of memory to buy herself time while she recovers.

Hugh is taken by her beauty, passion, and courage to challenge his beliefs and open his mind. Grace finds in him a wounded man of honor, proud but compassionate. When their duel of wits quickly turns to passion and romance, Grace’s fears begin to dissolve…until danger follows her to the very doors of Baronsford. For, unknown to either of them, Grace has in her possession a secret that will wreak havoc within the British government. Friend and foe are indistinguishable as lethal forces converge to tear the two lovers apart or destroy them both.

Waiting On Wednesday Year One by Nora Roberts

Waiting on Wednesday‘ is a weekly event hosted at Breaking the Spine, it spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating. Check them out for links to more awesome blogs!

Release Date: Dec 5th, 2017
It began on New Year’s Eve.
The sickness came on suddenly, and spread quickly. The fear spread even faster. Within weeks, everything people counted on began to fail them. The electrical grid sputtered; law and government collapsed—and more than half of the world’s population was decimated.
Where there had been order, there was now chaos. And as the power of science and technology receded, magic rose up in its place. Some of it is good, like the witchcraft worked by Lana Bingham, practicing in the loft apartment she shares with her lover, Max. Some of it is unimaginably evil, and it can lurk anywhere, around a corner, in fetid tunnels beneath the river—or in the ones you know and love the most.
As word spreads that neither the immune nor the gifted are safe from the authorities who patrol the ravaged streets, and with nothing left to count on but each other, Lana and Max make their way out of a wrecked New York City. At the same time, other travelers are heading west too, into a new frontier. Chuck, a tech genius trying to hack his way through a world gone offline. Arlys, a journalist who has lost her audience but uses pen and paper to record the truth. Fred, her young colleague, possessed of burgeoning abilities and an optimism that seems out of place in this bleak landscape. And Rachel and Jonah, a resourceful doctor and a paramedic who fend off despair with their determination to keep a young mother and three infants in their care alive.
In a world of survivors where every stranger encountered could be either a savage or a savior, none of them knows exactly where they are heading, or why. But a purpose awaits them that will shape their lives and the lives of all those who remain.
The end has come. The beginning comes next.
At the risk of sounding like a fangirl….oh WTH, OMG OMG OMG!!! I just adore Nora Roberts and loved her Sign of Seven trilogy! My only complaint is, I wish it came out this month because I think October is the perfect time of year to read this!

I’m Baaacccckkk! + What I’m Reading

Hi y’all! I know it’s been a loonnnnggg time since a post. Sometimes life gets in the way and so many things happened at once, I just needed a break…a time to clear my head. I got to a point I couldn’t even concentrate on a book and would set it down and not come back to it.

I’m very happy to say that I’m once again at a place that I can come back to the bookish world again! I missed you guys!! I think it may take some time until I’m fully back, my posts may be a little more spaced out but I plan on gradually coming back and at my own speed.

That being said, it’s getting close to Halloween and I wanted to pick out a spooky read to cozy up to. I’ve chosen Her by Danielle Rose. I’ve already read the first few pages, and it’s so spooky! 👻

Are you reading anything scary for Halloween? Let me know in the comments!
